Ceramic Protection & Sealants

A practical, realistic approach to modern paint protection coatings. Understand how liquid glass barriers can help guard your car against environment staining.

What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic coatings are liquid polymer compounds typically composed of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2). When applied manually over a vehicle's paint, they bond chemically with the factory clear coat on a molecular level. This creates an ultra-thin, dense glass-like barrier over the paint surface.

The primary benefit of a ceramic coating is its extreme hydrophobic property: it repels water sheets and droplets. It also makes subsequent washing much simpler, as dirt has difficulty bonding with the slick surface.

Setting Realistic Expectations

There is significant marketing hype surrounding ceramic coatings. To remain completely transparent, we advise all UK drivers to evaluate these facts:

Not a shield against stone chips

Ceramic coatings do not have the physical thickness or elastic structure to absorb high-speed gravel impacts. To protect paint from stone chips, Paint Protection Film (PPF) is required.

No coating is permanent

While many brands market "lifetime" or "permanent" coatings, real-world longevity depends heavily on physical mileage, weather conditions, wash techniques, and how the vehicle is stored (garaged vs. street parked). A high-quality coating usually degrades after several years of hard UK commuting unless regularly maintained.

Preparation is everything

Applying a coating directly over dirty, swirled paint will simply lock the swirls underneath, while reducing the chemical bond's strength. Excellent ceramic performance requires complete chemical decontamination and paint refining prior to application.

Types of Protection We Offer

Polymer Spray Sealants

Short-to-medium protection, offering great initial hydrophobics and budget-friendly pricing. Ideal for daily cars that receive monthly maintenance washes.

Multi-Year Ceramic Coatings

A semi-permanent cured layer that bonds tightly. Requires extensive paint refinement prep. Offers maximum ease of washing and strong resistance to insect etching.

Longevity Caveat

Actual ceramic coating durability is heavily dependent on wash methods. Washing your vehicle with high-alkaline airport washes or coarse automatic brushes can degrade ceramic layers within months. Consistent safe hand washing is critical to ensure performance.
